Our Vancouver Island whale watching tours are well rounded interpretive tours of the oceanic world just off the West Coast of Ucluelet, British Columbia. While our main target for these tours consists of viewing migrating Humpback Whales, Grey Whales, and the residential/transients Orca pods that circulate Vancouver Island, the waters just off of Ucluelet are rich feeding grounds for a variety of other marine animals. These animals consist of Harbour Seals, California Sea Lions, Steller Sea Lions, Black Bears, Sea Otters, River Otters, Harbour Porpoises, Dalls Porpoises, Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, and all sorts of migratory/pelagic birds and more! While the goal of these tours is to observe the natural behavior of the animals that inhabit the coast, guests also get a glimpse of the historically rich waters of Barkley Sound and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve of the Broken Group Islands, as well as the Pacific Rim National Park of Florencia Bay, Wickaninnish Beach, and Long Beach.

These tours are not recommended for cliental +65 or -6, pregnant women, or anyone with ongoing physical injuries such as osteoporosis or bowel incontinence. The Zodiac Vessel is a fast and exhilarating ride for our whale watching tours, however, it can be bumpy out in the open water. For safety purposes and more comfort, we suggest going with a closed outfit boat.

Join us for a tour today that the whole family can enjoy! Weather permitted, these trips are unforgettable and give international guests visiting Canada a true taste of the West Coast. Our guides are well-educated in all safety matters of operating the Zodiac Vessel but are also well-educated about the Ucluelet/Barkley Sound region and neighbouring marine wildlife.

Customer Feedback from a Whale Watching Tours

“Rachel was really the best for our whale watching excursion. She was safe, knowledgable and fun. The best thing about touring with Rachel was that you can really tell that she is super passionate about the wildlife and the coast. Also, she delivers! We saw whales, bears, sea lions and eagles and the boat ride was really smooth. I would most definitely recommend Spyhop to anyone.” – Kristina A., July/24/2015, TripAdvisor
